Paris stands up to China

www.iht.com/articles/2008/04/22/europe/france.php

Say what you will about Paris or the French in general, but you can’t beat the latest statement by the Parisian City Council for making the Dalai Lama an honorary citizen of the city. I’m a little surprised that Boulder hasn’t done anything like this yet… perhaps this will start a global statement, and it’s good that it’s a more positive one. These kinds of acts aren’t completely unheard of. It was only last month that the cities of Brattleboro and Marlboro voted to have both George W and “Sure-shot” Cheney arrested for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

If American cities can do something like that, then it’s time to recognize His Holiness as a truly global citizen.
