Before the green movement and even before the internet, we holistic-minded, eco-savvy moms were pretty much on our own. Raising two daughters in southern New Hampshire during the late 80s and 90s, I drove two hours round-trip to shop at the closest natural foods market each week. I stocked up on everyday staples and convinced the local supermarket to carry organic milk and peanut butter when I got every mom in my babysitting coop to fill out product request forms. I gladly would have traded in my extensive parenting library for a one-stop resource for all the mainstream alternatives I searched out on a day-to-day basis. So I’m happy to see that for young moms today, OrganicGreenMommy.com provides just that—a place to look for parenting support and advice on everything from deciding whether or not to vaccinate your kids to staying fit and healthy with a baby attached to your hip. It’s not easy to go against the grain, but today, as organic sales soar and holistic medicine inches its way towards the mainstream, I’m proud that we pioneering moms stuck to our hunches and refused to compromise.
