For years, our anemic editorial department (read: me) let lots of typos slip past our glazed over eyes. So I was surprised to see my favorite paper/web site do the same. And kinda heartened: we’re all human, even the Mihgty New York Times.

My grandmother combs through the New York Times every day with a red pen, finding at least a few typos in each edition. Then, she punches out a letter to the editor in her 1986 typewriter, and sends it off. Sometimes, they feature corrections based on her finds, but mostly she gets no response. She’s very proud of this and keeps copies of all the papers that include her corrections.
If only I inherited her copy-editor’s mind! But alas, I’m usually too distracted by content to catch the little details.
