Republican candidate John McCain recently came out in favor of offshore drilling, stating that he believed the execs of Big Oil more than energy experts and even the Feds’ own Energy Information Administration. Which makes sense, of course, since oil executives would never be dishonest or take advantage of the current situation, thereby reaping the highest profits of any corporation in recorded US history. Not surprisingly, only one day after McCain made his announcement, over $800,000 in donations from Texas Big Oil companies alone hit his campaign bank account, bringing his total contributions by Big Oil to just over $1.2 million.
Why is it he claims to represent “straight talk” again? Ahh, “Maverick McCain”, come back!
