Does our society need a first-tier, far-reaching, fun, "mindful" + independent media source?

One buck a month is all it takes.

Paul Cattin on Pekoe Sip House, a tea cafe at Origins in Denver [elephant journal dot com's Dr. Weil video].

In conjunction with Mito Media’s recent release of my conversation with Dr. Andrew Weil (which we secured thanks to our colleagues at Fresh Ideas Group), I asked longtime buddy and supporter of elephant Paul Cattin of Pekoe Sip House—the tea cafe in the Origins store in Denver, Colorado where the interview took place—to give us a little write-up on this, his second Pekoe location:

At Pekoe Sip House our belief is to “Sip, Relax, Enjoy.” Our cafe allows our guests to pair their healthy, fun lifestyle with the Pekoe buzz – an energy inherent in a healthy lifestyle.  Our belief is made stronger in our quest to be eco-friendly.  All these elements are the foundation and strong tie in our partnership with Origins at our second and newest location in The Shops at NorthCreek in Denver, Colorado.

Pekoe Sip House and Origins opened the doors for our eco-minded partnership in August of 2008 with the opening of the Origins’ NorthCreek location a new lifestyle store including Pekoe’s café, a feel-good spa and made-for-Denver products.

Our guests and those new to Pekoe Sip House will find the same drink menu and similar food items, all with a good-for-you, organic, local, vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free flare.

As for the space, well it’s not your usual café. The bar is located in the center of a 3,200 square foot store. Its design is relaxed, organic and inviting – a home away from home with free wifi, power outlets, and couches and benches where guests can relax and enjoy their favorite cup of tea, the Origins’ experience and lots of natural lighting.

But the best part of this whole experience is the long-lasting commitment Pekoe and Origins have made to environmental sustainability. Here’s what we’re doing to lessen our impact:

·      Receiving Silver LEED Certification

·      68% of products are from local companies

.      62% of products through local vendors are organic

·      55% of our coffee and tea are certified fair trade and organic

·      All of Pekoe’s cups, plates and serving items are made from recycled plastics, recycled     paper and compostable containers

·      Our cleaning products are 85% chemical free

·      Pekoe is 100% Wind powered

·      Pekoe reduces, reuses and recycles whenever possible

·      Direct Trade: Pekoe works whenever possible directly with vendors at Origin.

We invite you to enjoy Pekoe Sip House at Origins – the experience revives, replenishes and heals. Like our Boulder café, it is an experience free from artificiality, enabling us to indulge a little and enjoy each day more than the last.
