Boulder Chamber of Commerce: for Kidz! [2140 Networking Party for Young Professionals]

2140. What does that mean? Is it a password, a secret code of some sort?

That’s what I asked when I learned about the “2140″ networking event put on by the Boulder Chamber of Commerce. After a little exploring, I discovered that “2140″ is the name of the event because it is a networking event for young professionals between the ages of 21 and 40. Ok, that makes sense, I’ll go

And so I went, and to my surprise, it was an amazing event—probably the most impressive networking event I’ve ever attended (and trust me, I consider myself a seasoned “networker,” attending on average one to two events per week). Not only were there about 250 young professionals in attendance (including elephantjournal.com’s editor, Waylon Lewis, who was blowing his nose and saying ‘what!’ too loudly). The space where it was held, The Rembrandt Yard, was absolutely gorgeous and comfortably accommodated the large group. The food was delicious (not sure if organic or local or not ~ed), and the bar featured locally-brewed beer from Colorado brewing company, a wine selection, carbonated beverages and spring water from our very own Eldorado Springs.

The highlight of the night was the presentation on leadership by the CU Boulder Football Coach Dan Hawkins. Not only was the speech motivating, but his uplifting, positive attitude seemed to permeate the room, inspiring everyone to “be the best they can be,” and fulfill their greatest potential. All in all, not bad for a Wednesday night….and all for $15!

I will definitely be attending the next 2140 event wherever it may be in the lovely town of Boulder. In Boulder? See you there!
