Valentine Recycling Special: Dear Valentine, the future is what we make together!

Today it was Recycling day at our house!

First we sort it out…

Lids can’t be recycled, so take them out and do something else with them.

Plastics have numbers on the bottom to help sort them by.
(You might need to put on your glasses)
Check them and make sure that your recycling center takes those numbers.

HDPE plastic is the best type of plastic.
It is high density and will not leach its chemicals into your life.

However, you’ll want to keep PVC plastic away from your water and your babies!
It’s OK., just do it!

Boxes should be broken down.

We load up the wagon.

with these objects we come by…

Some things we collect will not recycle in the normal ways

various trinkets of desire…

so we may as well keep them around.

We have so much…

But truly, only You* hold the key

to disposing of Your waste…

mindfully.

When I think about the future I’m not wearing a big red letter on my chest…

but I am doing what I know is right!

The Mommy Revolution is about doing what’s right for our mother.

It could be a casual match…

in a very dry field

Happy Valentine’s Day, Green Superheroes!

joanna, i really like this entry. by the way, regarding #5 plastics–one can indeed have them recycled through participating wholefoods, or by sending the plastics by mail to preserve. here is the information:

for participating wholefoods locations:

finally: i have been thinking about the kinds of *really radical* changes we must make, and, here is a first step–luke and i have made a pact not to purchase any *new* attire (clothing, shoes, houseware) for the next two years–only used. Think of the energy and resources that go into making junk clothes that we more or less throw out or stop using a couple of years —
Keep going! I really appreciate your blog!!
FANTASTIC!
Jo,
insightful and practical. thanks. Do you think Mom will get some calls?
