Review: Terracycle Household Cleaners

My shiny kitchen counters say it all – This stuff works! I tried these natural cleaners from Canadian eco brand Terracycle. They are among the first consumer products to carry the Zerofootprint seal which means that in addition to following sustainable business practices, the company also purchases meaningful offsets to  minimize their impact. The bottles are waste stream recycled (cleaned and re-used) and the ingredients are basically just water, natural minerals and essential oils.

Both the All Purpose Cleaner and the Bathroom Cleaner did their job and left a mild herbal smell that dissipated quickly. I don’t like my house to smell like cleaning products. You can find them at most of the usual places – Wild Oats, Target,  Walmart, Walgreens or King Soopers.

Terracycle started out selling fertilizer made from worm poop. The founder, Tom Szaky, dropped out of Princeton University to start this ultimate eco-friendly brand. They have expanded beyond worm excrement to other garden products, household cleaners, office supplies, fireplace logs and pet products among other things.
