The Healing Power of the Subconscious Mind, via Kendra Current.

Modern science has been cooking up some magic, helping the lay person to understand one’s own healing potential and how symptoms manifest—and just how powerful our mind is in that process.

These ideas are the substance and alchemy behind what happens in my work as a healing professional. My job, on some level, is to help a client activate his or her innate healing potential. The mind/body is an intelligent system. With the help of modern science behind the recent development of healing technologies, such as “The LifeLine Technique,” we can understand symptoms and holistically balance the body to heal itself.

Dr. Bruce Lipton, cellular biologist and author of The Biology of Belief, discovered that protein receptors, not genes, are the “brains” of the cell. What does this mean exactly? Proteins change their shape depending on the signal they are receiving, providing for changes in both physical structure, and behavior. Protein receptors, like those contained in the cells of the retina, the cochlea, the olfactory bulb, and receptors for temperature and pressure in the skin, are how we perceive our environment. The signals from the environment tell the cells how to behave and what proteins to produce for optimal function by activating Genetic Engineering Genes.

In other words, the protein receptors tell the DNA which genes to express, and what kinds of cells to produce. Our bodies naturally produce genes to fit the perception of the environment we think we live in. Our thoughts create our biology! Our perception, however, may be inaccurate, based on beliefs about our environment, and not based on what is actually occurring.

Candice Pert, internationally recognized pharmacologist, and author of The Molecules of Emotion, says “the way our brain is wired up, we only see what we believe is possible. We match patterns that already exist within ourselves through conditioning. […] We see what we want to believe, and we just turn away from things that are too unfamiliar or even unpleasant.”

Studies show that approximately 95% of our reality lies in the subconscious mind. In the subconscious, there is no choice, simply unconscious reaction based on long-standing programs and neural pathways, like software that has been downloaded on a computer.

For example, a child raised in an environment of judgment, fear or shame, may grow up believing the world is a fearful place, where they will be highly scrutinized, because his parents believed that about their world, based on their experiences. The parents had no tools to love themselves unconditionally; they were running the fear and judgment “program,” so they didn’t know how to teach the child to love himself unconditionally.

The frequency of these thoughts will have a ripple effect on many life experiences. The mind doesn’t know the difference between a thought or a memory of an event, and the event actually occurring.

Even in adulthood, until one is able to reconnect to that part of them self they denied as a child, they manifest patterns in the body and in relationships based on their expectations, which mirror the tapes their parents played. It may even present great challenge to see the world differently, because it would mean adapting to a completely new world view. As our frontal cortex is not fully developed until we are about 25, we rely on the information of our caretakers to determine an appropriate response to our environment.

Wikipedia describes the function of the frontal lobes as “play[ing] an important part in retaining longer term memories which are not task-based. These are often memories associated with emotions derived from input from the brain’s limbic system. The frontal lobe modifies those emotions to generally fit socially acceptable norms.”

So, long after we are children, we are conditioned to respond according to beliefs. And we now know that belief not only directs our perception, belief changes our genes! In his many presentations, Dr. Lipton has said, “At a human level, perceptions are our beliefs…Our beliefs select our genes, and select our behavior.”

This is such valuable, life changing information! It means that when we reevaluate our world and pay attention to our thoughts, we have the ability to reroute our neural networks. Where there is conscious awareness, there is choice. Where there is choice, there can be change. We can, now undeniably on the scientific front, change our genes and every cell of our bodies by the way we think about ourselves and our lives. We have the ability to self heal!

This is demonstrated brilliantly in the work of Dr. Masuru Emoto, who proved that the vibration of our thoughts determines the way water molecules shape themselves. Dr. Emoto froze samples of water from around the world and looked at them under a dark-field microscope. He then exposed various samples of water to different types of music, thoughts, and words written on their containers. He found that the vibration of Infinite Love and Gratitude formed a beautiful crystalline structure, similar to the structure found in healthy spring water. Conversely, the water exposed to the vibration of angry music, and violent thoughts created a sample similar to that of water from a polluted lake, with virtually no structure. The implications are profound and far-reaching.

Our bodies are 75-90% water. The healthy structure of our water is essential to conducting electricity within our bodies, and maintaining our bodies’ many functions, so it is essential that we literally love our bodies for them to function in optimal health.

The good news is that there are tools available to identify and rapidly change limiting beliefs held within the subconscious mind. A powerful example of an effective, life-changing system, The LifeLine Technique™, was developed by Dr. Darren Weissman, author and holistic physician. As a holistic practitioner, I have found this to be one of the most effective techniques available to uncover and harmonize the root cause of symptoms, allowing the body to do its work as a self-healing organism. It is a masterful synthesis that works like a laser beam to recognize the origination of internalization, denial, or disconnection from an aspect of the self, to reconnect to our power, and reactivating the body’s regeneration and repair response.

Symptoms are always a gift in strange wrapping paper. They are a language that speaks through our bodies and our lives for those parts of us that long to be expressed. Healing is an evolutionary process of translating the language of symptoms, of learning to own our power, of ultimately realizing we are the creators of our own life experience. Let the healing begin!-K.C.
