Yogi Art: Todd Smith Photography [Calendars, Cards and Prints + Promo.]
by Sarah Miller
“Meditation and art are deeply connected for me. The more clear my meditations become the more clearly I see the world. The more blissful I become, the more I see that joy in everything. I have a love affair with wisdom, truth and beauty.“ –Todd Smith
As a yogi and professional photographer, Todd Smith easily gets inspiration from his natural surroundings. Intricate leaf images, beautiful landscapes and spiritual settings, are expressions of this connection he feels to the world.
Todd admittedly uses his inner bliss to create meaning through his art. “I have to find some reason to justify my happiness, you know. When I find a gorgeous landscape or a delicate flower or a tender slice of life I feel lucky to be alive. To have a habit of going out to look for beauty brings me lots of energy.”
He truly has a gift of capturing a moment, a message and a fleeting feeling through his photography. Often these moments are captured suddenly and spontaneously. “My best shots are when I respond instinctively to what I see… The more I trust my intuition, the more lucky I get.”
Admittedly, his meditation practice helps him flourish as an artist. Enlivening his spirit seems to enliven his ability to create, witness and capture the delight of his surroundings. You can capture this bliss through his prints, calendars and cards- available through his website www.toddsmithphotography.com

Thanks for this beautiful piece, Sarah, and thanks for your wonderful photography, Todd.
I'm fascinated by this connection between art and spirituality. I wrote a short poem about it, in which I encourage everyone to see and think like an artist, even if they're not one:
