Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche: photos on the anniversary of his death.

Cheerful Parinirvana, to my only father guru: today is the anniversary of the passing of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Licking honey from a razor blade,

Eyes of the learned gouged out by books,
The beauty of maidens worn by display,
The warrior dead from not knowing fear―
It is ironical to see the dharma of samsara:
Celebrities deafened by fame,
The hand of the artist crippled by rheumatism.

The moth flew into the oil lamp,
The blind man walks with a torch,
The cripple runs in his wheelchair,
A fool’s rhetoric is deep and learned,
The laughing poet has run out of breath and died.
The religious spin circles, in accordance with religion;
If they had not practiced their religion, they could not spin.
The sinner cannot spin according to religion;
He spins according to not knowing how to spin.
The yogis spin by practicing yoga;
If they don’t have chakras to spin, they are not yogis.
Chögyam is spinning, watching the spinning/samsara;
If there is no samsara/spinning, there is no Chögyam.

Cynical Letter

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

  3. Boulder info:
    Parinirvana of the Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
    Sun April 4th: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

    On Sunday, April 4th we will commemorate the passing of Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1987. There will be two three hour sessions of ceremonies.

    AFTERNOON SESSION led by ACHARYA DALE ASRAEL

    The afternoon session from 2-5pm will include the practice of Dharma Sagara Guru yoga, personal memories, and a dvd of Trungpa Rinpoche’s talk on Shambhala Society in New York City in 1982. We especially invite those who are inspired to share their personal memories to attend this afternoon session.

    EVENING SESSION led by ACHARYA FLEET MAULL

    The evening session from 6-9pm will be a Sadhana of Mahamudra Feast. This is the sole time during the year when ALL practitioners are invited to do the formal feast liturgy section written by His Holiness Khyentse Rinpoche. This feast section is usually performed only by tantrikas. On this one, very special occasion, the feast may be performed by the entire sangha.

    Cost for Feast: $15 (children can attend for free)

    The entire community is invited to this very special event, which will also include archival photographs, and other displays. We will also have food in the community room from 5-6pm for those staying for both sessions.

  4. Greg says:
