Shepard Fairey + Yvon Chouinard + Global Warming posters, oh my.
“Right wing denies science of climate change…also claims abstinence is best birth control…”
Excerpt via LimitedHype re Shepard Fairey’s new poster re saving one of the last truly wild spots on planet earth:
The piece hopes to raise awareness about the destruction of one of the last remaining wild places on earth: the area, in Chile’s Patagonia region through damn construction and is based on the new film retracing the 1968 journey of Yvon and Doug to that region. The art print takes us back to what we like about Fairey; a political message infused print with meaning and purpose.
Re the Knitting poster:
“I chose to illustrate this image of two girls knitting (in a Rush Arts program) because I think it really captures the idea that learning art in schools is about more than crayon drawings, it’s about creativity, something that transcends all class and race boundaries. I think the joy of making something is universal, and it’s an opportunity that every kid should have.”
