US lifts ban on deep-water oil drilling.

In yet another chapter of “can’t make anyone happy,” the Obama Administration has caved to Republican and citizen complaints and allowed new offshore drilling, weeks ahead of schedule but just in time to defuse a campaign issue during a year when liberal losses may be heavy, and Democratic voters have done little but sit on their hands and complain (what we’re good at).

To give credit where credit is due, the Obama administration’s moratorium on drilling was deeply unpopular, and wouldn’t have happened at all if Republicans held the reins.
