Anthony Bourdain on why he hates Vegetarianism.

Via on Apr 9, 2011

It’s rude. But, then, so was abolitionism back in the day, hey?

Author, chef and TV show host Anthony Bourdain explains his disdain for the vegetarian lifestyle. The video was surreptitiously filmed at a speech Tony Bourdain gave at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas on October 20th, 2007.

UPDATE: Bourdain has since on his television programs expressed a more sympathetic viewpoint towards vegetarianism. In other words, he might not hate it anymore. But this is still a hilarious diatribe!

  2. I'm constantly amazed how meat eaters get so angry and defensive.

Charles, the US’ poor handling of the meat industry certainly can’t be your and your wife’s only reason for becoming vegetarians. There are easy, environmental friendly, and local options available that completely go around mass produced meat.

It is becoming increasingly easy to obtain grass fed local organic beef and bison throughout the country.

I’m by no means saying you and your wife shouldn’t continue to be vegetarians, but what I am saying, is your ‘excuse’ is a little weak in this day and age, unless of course, your just looking to ‘stick it to the man’ by not eating any meat.

If the culture has vegetarian as an option, yes you are right. However, if the culture has been eating a certain way for centuries and does not offer a veg option, I think it would be better to accept the food they are giving you rather than demand something vegetarian.
