    Here in Germany, I see that all the time. Once when I saw an elderly person on a bicycle, I was shocked. My husband asked, "What, don't Americans ride bikes when they're old?" "No," I said, "We ride those electric scooter things instead. You know, the kind you see at the entrance to every supermarket in the States."

    Last night I learned that the Dutch are still mad at the Germans because when the Nazis escaped the Netherlands they stole all their bikes: http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2009/04/ger
