A&F declares “The perfect butt” in its new Yoga Collection.

Via on Sep 4, 2011

“If this is A&F’s idea of a perfect butt we’ve got problems.

Needless to say, and good on their community, Reddit does not approve—though it takes pains in comments to distinguish between those who are naturally skinny (fine) and the fashion industry’s obsession with “skinny” (troublesome).

Nice air brushing A&F. They don't even look real, they look like animation. Way to really feed the minds of the teenage women growing up looking for role models. You suck

Too skinny for my tastes, and seriously, as it's a clothing ad, what really matters is, who would wear those UGLY pants?

I just knew that the buttissimo has hit the fashion mainstream now, gone is the worship of J Lo-like yoga butts!

Now it's the worship of Pippa Middleton-like yoga butts!

I AM too old … I can tell a fashion cycle from ten miles away …

  5. Oh my. This is terrible. Horrible air-brushing and worse message. While some people are naturally skinny and may look like this, it shouldn't be a promotion of the norm!

Shame on A&F for reducing yoga to an exercise that will give you a “perfect yoga butt”. “Yoga doesn’t care about the shape of your body, it cares about the shape of your life.” That’s a quote from yoga teacher Aadil Palkhivala who began studying with BKS Iyengar when he was 7 years old. Yoga is a 5,000 year old applied spiritual philosophy and to imply that this philosophy cares anything about the shape of someone’s butt, is disrespectful and blasphemous. Have a little respect for other culture’s spiritual traditions A&F.

more bullshit from the marketers of the new (and what passes for) "Yoga" these day….all style and little substance.
