TINY: A Documentary About Living Small
TINY: A Story About Living Small is a short documentary about tiny houses, and the ways that we find ourselves at home. The film follows the story of Christopher Smith and his attempt to build a 130-square foot tiny house from scratch, with no prior building experience. The film also profiles other families across America who have chosen to downsize and live in less than 400 square feet.
Thirty-five days ago, when my partner, Christopher, and I posted our tiny house documentary on Kickstarter, we weren’t sure what kind of a response we would get. Pushing the ‘send’ button on any creative endeavor requires a leap of faith, but we took a deep breath, closed our eyes, and asked for $7500 to cover post-production expenses for the film-in-progress.
Five weeks later, we have received a more enthusiastic and positive response than we ever could have imagined, reaching our goal with time to spare and receiving press everywhere from The Chicken Whisperer to Oprah.com (and of course from our good friends at elephantjournal.com). We feel so much gratitude to everyone who donated to the project, shared our link, and have made it possible for us to cover post-production expenses to make this film a reality.
With three days left in our campaign, we have decided to increase our goal to $10,000.00, which will help us to cover the entrance fees to film festivals across America.
So, if you feel inspired and would like to be a part of our “TINY” project, please, head on over to Kickstarter and give us a boost. Every single donation means so much to us, and will help us towards our final goal.
Whether or not the film convinces us all to go tiny, we’re capturing some heartfelt questions and creative ideas that can be applied to any lifestyle, no matter the square footage. Now that we have all of the ingredients to make a killer film about living small, simply, and satisfied—help us to bring it to the masses!
And a few other video profiles we have published while filming the main documentary:
