2012: Take Back Your Life and Live in the F-cking Moment!

Via on Dec 27, 2011

“It is virtually not assimilable to our reason that a small lonely man felled a giant in the midst of his limousines, his legions, his throng, and his security. If such a nonentity destroyed the leader of the most powerful nation on earth, then a world of disproportion engulfs us, and we live in a universe that is absurd.”

–American novelist Norman Mailer on President Kennedy’s assassinationWhile negative, dark, violent actions can turn the world on its ear, let’s not forget that positive behavior and energy can have an equally “absurd” impact. You just never know how those authentic acts and impassioned moments can create ripples in the world order.
–Do you think 42 year old seamstress Rosa Parks ever imagined in a million years on that ordinary morning in 1955 that her refusing to give up her seat on the bus would be a monumental moment in the civil rights movement?

–Or what about Weng Weilin? On June 5, 1989, Weng was walking in Beijing with twoshopping bags, and no intention of changing the world… when he decided to stand in front of, and thus halt, a row of tanks cracking down on the protests in Tiananmen Square.

That act led Time Magazine to name Weng Weilin as One of the 100 Most Important People of The Century. Remember, he was just out for some groceries.

–And then there’s Tunisian legend and martyr Mohamed Bouazizi, who in absolute frustration at harassment by local officials, set himself on fire on December 17, 2010. He is considered by many to be the ignition behind the engine of rebellion that fueled the Arab Spring. He was just a street vendor having a bad day.

Do you long to make an impact but feel like life has passed you by, like you missed the bus, like you are surviving but NOT thriving?

Each of us has the absolute potential to lead an extraordinary life.

As exemplified throughout history by the Parks, Weilins, and Bouzizis within and among us, the Big Victory begins by winning the little ones, and taking back the moments that constitute our annoying mornings, dreary afternoons, and sleepless nights.

My second book, TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE: Yeah Dave’s Guide to Victory over Buzzing Gadgets, Busy Schedules, and Bad Relationships, highlights a new breed of revolutionary or pioneer which I refer to as a Momenteer.

They are standing up to the demands of our high-tech, info-heavy world and inspiring us to realize we are fighting another kind of battle.

This is not a battle against overt forces like racism or violent government.

Rather this is a battle against the dull buzz of technology and information invading our sacred moments and slowly crushing our quality of life.

When do we reach a moment where enough is enough? I say 2012 is the year to defend sacred, to reclaim quality of life, to live in the moment!
