News Alert: Insanely Rich Guy gives back.

Via on Jan 15, 2012

It’s a sad world when a gentleman gets rich off of mediocre whatever sold to the masses and gives back half of that and that makes him the most generous philanthropist, like, ever; and he gets hailed as a hero.

Here’s what impresses me: make your money changing the world for the better. Our generation can do better…we can walk our talk along the way, and make enough money to enjoy life. ‘Cause that, and responsibility and integrity, is what makes for a truly, fully, madly, deeply good life.

All that said…this is truly wow:

Microsoft has made a lot of mediocre whatever products, but many others habe been remarkable good, and many people has done worse and made money and has not given any away; some people should get a cue from him and give a little. Even if their products are mediocre.

to think those poor people think that we are helping them by giving them "medicine" aka mercury, formaldehyde, aluminum etc. so sad.

I shed a few tears when I read through this. I may be a devoted mac user, and have bagged on Microsoft most of my life. However, I just want to say: Bill Gates, there is a place for you on my personal wall of fame.

So sad when people perpetuate misinformation regarding valuable medicines that can be used to save lives and prevent diseases.

I think this is a fantastic story, thanks for sharing!

However, it is a bit disheartening when somebody still hast to take potshots at Gates for Microsoft's products and selling to masses (what the heck is wrong with selling to the masses, anyhow?!?). The guy can't even give out tens of billions of dollars without people finding a way to be a little snippy about it.
