I Count on My Earth.
Photo: Shirley Two Feathers
I count on my earth
for so many things;
A fresh breeze in the morning
as all the birds sing.Sand littered only with footsteps
on a hot summer day;
Trees giving me shade
when I go out to play.Bright colors of flowers,
like candy for my eyes;
And what a wonderful treat
a rainbow painting the sky.Clean water and rich soil
help my food grow…
Feeding me, not to mention
millions of folks I don’t know.And what fun would it be
not to swim in a lake?
Or to have to stay indoors
so my lungs wouldn’t break?Without a healthy earth
where would we all be?
I Count on my earth
and it counts on me!
