It’s a Year of Transformation—Embrace it with Grace. ~ Vicky Iskandar

We’re a quarter way into 2012 and so many shifts are happening.

Have you noticed that all around us, people are in various states of transitions? Changes that normally take a few years or a lifetime are happening faster than ever.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed as we’re being called to our highest truth. For those who embrace the changes with grace, there are as many people out there fearful of these rapid shifts.

I interviewed yoga teacher, healer and spiritual activist Saul David Raye about this shift in consciousness and the fears surrounding it. Raye’s teaching draws on the depth of the yoga tradition, Bhakti, and Tantra, and influenced by ancient rituals, such as the Mayan.

According to Raye, “2012 is not a specific date necessarily because we’re already in the transformation that’s happening. We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen. The Mayans are very clear that it’s not the end of the world. It’s a shift in the consciousness to go into another level of our evolution. The people of the earth have to choose to leave behind the war, negativity, hatred and violence.”

The Mayan Calendar reaches the end of a cycle (the 13th Bak’tun) on December 21, 2012. What will happen on and after that day? Nobody knows, but this will not be the end of the world. Instead, it will be the beginning of a new one. This transition from the old to the new is like the spot where the river meets the ocean—there is turbulence but you can find calm within it.

Embrace the shift and surrender to the changes happening around you with inner peace and compassion.

“Fear will not help anything, it will just keep us paralyzed.
If we can stay out of fear, we can stay in the positive energy cycle.
We can create with love much more powerfully than fear.”

~ Saul David Raye

Saul David Raye will be teaching three classes on April 21st and April 22nd at Tadasana Yoga & Music Festival over Earth Day weekend on the beach in Santa Monica, CA.
