Steve Jobs was a once in a generation type genius.
He had access to a clarity, knowledge, and inspiration that some would describe as an astrological phenomenon:
“Every generation yields but a few ‘pure geniuses,’ as there are but a few and far between watershed moments in our collective evolution.
“A genius is channeling universal truth in a way that expresses a new phase in the development of humanity.
“Genius is the rare ability to translate seemingly coincidental events into unique and massively influential innovations.”
Steve Jobs sensed that he had access to what the yogis call the collective consciousness.
And he took measures to solidify his link to this superconsciousness (i.e. taking LSD, walking barefoot, gaining clarity through austere diets).

Incorrect source, offensive, or found a typo? Or do you want to write for Elephant?
Steve Jobs got the idea for the Apple iPad when he saw an IBM Thinkpad and decided to "borrow" the concept. His genius, if we call it that, was strictly in marketing, not invention or innovation, and it's not really the kind of consciousness I'm seeking.
To isolate his genius to a seemingly erroneous claim regarding one single product out of several that changed entire industries is a shallow objective with grim substance. What's your innovative justification for everything else he accomplished in his career? It certainly wasn't limited to the iPad, even though that product alone changed the industry in a way that the IBM THINKPAD never could. Jobs most certainly did have a level of mental clarity and a keen ability to channel his focus and energy on certain areas of his life.
