The Best Way to Honor Micah True, a Fallen Hero of Born to Run.

“Caballo Blanco.”

Please read Mike Sandrock’s beautiful summation of Micah’s rare spirit. {Daily Camera}

Here in Boulder, we all knew Micah True, if only a little. A central character in bestseller Born to Run, Micah died, too-soon, last week. He was doing what he loved: running, in nature.

I saw this comment, via Evan Ravitz, on Huff Post, and it’s worth sharing here. I can recommend reading Huffington Post’s coverage of Micah’s life and death (top 20 most popular on their entire site), on the trail.

Via Evan:

“The best way people can honor my old friend is to donate to his
charity http://norawas, which benefits the Raramuri Indians (AKA
Tarahumara) as did the race Micah founded. The Raramuri are
barely surviving the worst drought in Mexican history. Here’s a
photo of Micah I took when we both lived in Guatemala, about
1988: http://evanravitz.com/Atitlan/Micah.jpg

  1. Wow–I've just started reading Born to Run (and it's not yet clear in the book whether Caballo Blanco's a real person or not…so this article kind of a spoiler, but interesting nonetheless…).

    Hello,I had a question about starting up. I am a recent graduate and I’m working on starting a practice with a partner in the delta in Mississippi. I’m having some trouble brainstorming about ways to bring in income while working on applying for liscense and getting funding. I was thinking teaching-but are there other options to receive income duriing this start-up time?
