Mommy, is the World Round?

“The only reason people do not know much is because they do not care to know. They are incurious. Incuriousity is the oddest and most foolish failing there is.” —Stephen Fry

Ouch. If the Bible is literally true, doesn’t that mean we should do all these things, too?

“Here in the middle of a discussion of god on The View, they start discussing evolution. They all believe in god but also in evolution, except for Sherri Shepherd who believes that the bible is the literal word of god. They then later ask her if the world is round or flat, and she doesn’t know, as she’s never checked.”

Sherri Shepherd's ignorance is astonishing. This is magical thinking's end result. Willful ignorance.

Sigh… can we have a real discussion about this instead of invoking obnoxiously smug atheists and woefully misguided Biblical literalists? Waaaay too easy. THERE IS NO CONFLICT BETWEEN FAITH AND SCIENCE. Bill Maher needs to tune in and turn on. Same for the other lady, too, but especially him.
