Everyone faces hardships in their life, but one of the most astonishing things that makes us human is the ability to overcome hardships.
A human being by its very nature is resilient and capable of godlike acts. I think we sometimes forget this; we blame our circumstances for not living a good life and we buy into a fictitious stories that we tell ourselves.
In life, we must seek victory over things that seem impossible. If we face life with compassion, boldness, and tenacity we can surmount any obstacles we face.
This group of 19 brave high school kids at the California School for the Deaf don’t see being deaf as a weakness. They play football like any other team; with drive, tenacity, sportsmanship and heart. They do the same drills that other football teams do—they just communicate different.
The head coach is deaf too and so the Eagles use sign language and big color-coded side line boards to communicate with each other on the field.
Vince Lombardi once said, “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle—victorious.”
I think we can find strength in anything we do, just by looking at our circumstances differently. There are plenty of examples in this world of people overcoming obstacles and hardships.
“Treat a man as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he could be, and he will become what he should be.”
