Shaky hands, and a broken heart
A deep, gnawing, wretched feeling
Same old reflection in the mirror
No preaching of rebirth
Not in this time of hibernation
I am on the brink of diving deep
Sitting alone in the upstairs of my mind
No support but my own
I will not run
I will not hide
This wilderness is mine
I am not afraid
Jennifer Sofie Gulick is an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School and currently lives in Eastern Idaho, under the veil of the Grand Tetons. Sofie enjoys expressing herself creatively through art, traveling on foot, by boat and by horseback, playing music, living minimally and growing, preparing and eating organic food.
