I read a blog that (basically) discussed how mass shootings only make up 2% of violent occurrences (<—sp possibly, sorry) and that an assault weapon ban is not the answer.
I understand that this situation is not the rule, but a very extreme rarity…to me, something should change. We are very prevention-oriented: childhood diseases, cancers, fire, carbon monoxide, seatbelts. Is it so wrong to want some form of prevention in our lives? Even if it's for the sake of appearance? Just my opinion…we'll see what happens soon enough.

The writer in the above link makes wonderful points. If a ban is not reasonable then I'd be for arming teachers EXCEPT anyone who has been in a classroom knows how incredibly physical being a teacher can be at times. I've seen students swing on teachers or threaten them in a verbal manner; what's to say that a student wouldn't or couldn't go for a teacher's gun?
At 5'2, most of my students are looking me in the eye as early as 4th grade. Clearly I wouldn't be the ideal teacher for such a job…
I guess ultimately we shall see what happens in time.
Single gun safe in or under the drawer, key pad, can be opened with one hand in about a second. No one else can get to it. Problem solved.
