Bush-era Warrantless Phone Tapping on US Citizens Fo’Life!

Update: President Barack Obama has signed into law a five-year extension of the U.S. government’s authority to monitor the overseas activity of suspected foreign spies and terrorists. . . . The law does not apply to Americans. When Americans are targeted for surveillance, the government must get a warrant” (seattlepi.com)

Senate votes to continue Bush-era Warrantless Phone Tapping on US Citizens.

We all freak (as we should) when Facebook effs with our Privacy Settings or Instagram messes with Terms of Service. This is 1,000x worse.

My President Obama better veto this crap. Word on the street is he’s down with it, now:

“Four years ago, in the midst of the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, an identical version of the bill was the subject of a highly contentious debate in the Senate. Obama and others argued then that Bush’s program went too far in violating Americans’ privacy. This year, with a supportive Obama in the Oval Office and the media focus on the fiscal cliff, the bill was renewed with much less attention.”

Let’s make some noooiisisiisoise!

By a vote of 73 to 23, the US Senate just voted for the warrantless surveillance of American citizens until 2017. ~ Gizmodo.

WTF to my Senator Michael Bennett? I thought you were one of the good guys!?

Since our representatives swear to uphold our Constitution, and since overriding Constitutional protections requires a Constitutional amendment, doesn’t this vote constitute treason? Serious question.

Get over the party affections. It's all a ruse to divide and conquer. They all work for the same operatives: corporations, the central bank and the shadow authorities.

  2. karlsaliter says:

oy. Yes, W, looks like treason from over here.

  3. Mr.Science says:

Obama will sign the bill. He will probably say something bullshitty about how he doesn’t want to, just like he did about the indefinite detention clause in the NDAA, which you have never bothered to acknowledge.
They all play for the same team.
Raygun, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Clinton, Romney. . .
    ALL.SAME.TEAM.
The police state aint going away.
Next steps 1)Grab the guns 2) accelerate economic collapse.
or you could stop pretending Obama cares about you and get with the program.
They can be stopped, but not until we all wake up just a wee bit more.
Tea Party (before being co-opted), Occupy Wallstreet, Same Damn Team. Only quibble, it isn’t the 1% that is the problem, it is the .1%
History doesn’t lie, you will start to see the same names everywhere.
    Obama is not your friend.

Bush only greased the skids for Obama. It is amazing how folks bitched and moaned about Dubya and his policies, yet praised and cheered Obama when he carried out the exact same policies. Wilco Tango Foxtrot. Willful ignorance methinks.

  5. Mr.Science says:

This story will paint a little bit of the picture. Federal agencies, under Obama. The only difference between him and Bush. . . He has an easier time getting away with it.
