Now that the world has officially ended, how are you going to contribute to creating a new one?

Apparently, we are on the verge of a new higher consciousness. But my bet is that this will only happen if all of us are on board. So here are some ideas for a more enlightened world in 2013.

1. Drop the negativity.

It’s hard, I know. One sure way to stay unhappy is to ruminate. But instead of constantly monitoring like a thermometer, try being a thermostat, and—

2. Create change.

If you’re not happy with your current situation, do something about it. Set new intentions. Write goals on a regular basis and follow up. Get a coach if you need help.

3. Find what inspires you.

Watch for what lights you up inside and find ways to connect with the source of that light. Then let that inspiration move you.

4. Maintain your equilibrium.

Learn to recognize when you are out of balance and how to regain it. This one skill will change your life.

5. Forgive your enemies.

In fact, be grateful to them for teaching you patience and strength. Use those lessons to teach others. Forgive from a distance, if necessary.

6. Practice meditation.

Daily practice shifts brain patterns, calms the mind and inspires creativity. What could be better? Except to maybe—

7. Eat more raw chocolate.

It’s good for you and gives you the happy buzz. Happy is good. And it’s legal.

8. Throw away or, better yet, recycle useless crap.

Your physical environment mirrors your mind. Organize your life starting with the closet and desk—oh, and donate the TV.

9. Stop reading the news.

Unless it’s independent media, like elephant journal. We’re being brainwashed, in case you hadn’t noticed. Take back your power.

10. Love your mother.

Honor and obey the sacred feminine. Listen to nature, both inside and out. Find other ways of embracing the feminine. We all need nurturing, love and kindness now, including our planet. Don’t wait for someone else to make the shift—do it first.

11. Listen to your heart!

How much happier would we all be if we spent time doing what we love, instead of what we think we should do? Let your heart guide you. We’ll all be grateful, and that much closer to enlightenment.
