His Holiness: “We are all human beings. “
I pray myself to sleep.
He sees no difference
Where compassion grows.
I wrestle passion.
Fear’s fire burns my eyes.
His lightness releases my heaviness.
He says the heart is our temple.
Today I went to that temple
And folded it into a fire
With care crying to carve kindness
In a world that is not.
We all crave peace, happiness,
I crave his peace.
His mother brought him bread
After he was taken away,
A child. He smiles when he speaks.
He wears a cap. The lights are bright.
The paths may vary. Respect nurtures
All—I can feed my flames and you can
Comb your fields or sail with the wind.
Faith and reason go together, he smiles.
I take faith, place it my prayers.
I take reason to quell those needs
Passion feeds, soothe the fear
That reminds me sanity is dear.
His practice does not falter.
It’s in the day to day, where
You and I live, when we choose
To laugh, kneel to pray, honor
The other because though different,
We are the same, courting
Compassion and creating our joys,
Religion breeds hypocrisy he claims.
Love and respect breed
Love and respect.
The world needs peace.
Make harmony. Kindness is his religion.
I live to learn and learn to live.
I take my fire and burn it into hope.
Sanity is a gift most don’t know.
The line seems clear, till you lose
All that is dear.
