‘Occupy Gezi’ protesters singing “Do You Hear the People Sing?” from Les Miserables (Video)

“Photo of a person waving Turkish flag over a barricade in Besiktas, Istanbul.”

This is how a people reclaims the freedoms that are their right, not privilege…the sort of liberty that is taken bit by bit from a free people until they’re no longer free.

For more on Turkey, here.

Do you hear the people sing?

Singing the song of angry men?

It is the music of a people

Who will NOT be slaves again!

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beating of the drums

There is a life about to start

When tomorrow comes!

Will you join in our crusade?

Who will be strong and stand with me?

Beyond the barricade

Is there a world you long to see?

Then join in the fight

That will give you the right to be free!

Duyuyor musun sesi?

İşte bu halkın öfkesi!

Olmayacak hiçbir zaman

Bir başkasının kölesi!

Sanki kalp atışların

Karışıyor davullara

Yürüyoruz gururla

Yeni bir yarına!

Sen de gel katıl bize

Diren bütün bu baskıya

Durur koca dünya barikatın arkasında!

Sen de özgürlüğün için diren omuz omuza!

Duyuyor musun bizi?

İşte çapulcunun sesi!

Olmayacak hiçbir zaman

Bir başkasının kölesi!

Sanki kalp atışların

Karışıyor davullara

Yürüyoruz gururla

Yeni bir yarına.
