(June 13, 2013) Boulder, Colorado—
The Conscious Media Film Festival at the Boulder Theater is structured as a celebration of films with screenings on both June 19 and 20. The bar will be open and audience members are encouraged to hang out, watch features, docs and shorts, and have a good time.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for day two of The Conscious Media Film Festival which continues on Thursday, June 20 with a second night of mind-expanding films, (for more about Day One, see Elephant Journal article here.
The evening begins with Niko von Glasow’s humorous “My Way to Olympia,” at 7 p.m. on June 20 at the Boulder Theater. Chronicling the journey of several athletes training for the 2012 London Paralympic Games, von Glasow (born short-armed from Thalidomide side-effects) explores his own challenges along with the personal stories of his subjects. Using his own disability as a starting point, he’s able to show the sheer triumph of the human spirit over adversity.
The feature presentation is a visually stunning, dreamlike science-fiction narrative adapted from two acclaimed graphic novels by Martin Villeneuve, who also directs the film. “Mars and Avril” takes place in a futuristic Montreal where a musician and his instrument-maker fall in love with the same woman. Meanwhile, humankind prepares its first-ever Mars landing. It’s a sci-fi steam-punk romance with a terrific score that you don’t want to miss projected on the big screen.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on June 20. Screenings start at 7 p.m.
