While the name “Bhopal” may cause many to scratch their heads and wonder if it is a person, place, or thing, everyone should know what it is.

For those that don’t, the Bhopal Disaster or Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the worst industrial accident in history. On the night of December 2, 1984, a pesticide plant leaked in the city of Bhopal, killing 2,259 people immediately. In all, over 500,000 were exposed to deadly gas and toxic chemicals leaving many severely injured for life.

Hopefully, Bhopal Prayer for Rain will inform more people of this event and raise awareness for the need of better safety measures to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

As the trailer shows, some of the worst horror stories are those that occur in real-life:

The Bhopal plant was a mirror image of a plant built in the United States. Both plants had safety measures in place to prevent this from happening. To save money and increase profits, the safety features at the Bhopal plant were bypassed , to increase production at the plant. The employees and Bhopal had very basic training in operating the plant, just, what they needed to know to do their job and get things done. The incident was preventable. Sadly, the people in India were expendable, for profits.
