For The First Time
When you open
To the naked intimacy
Of your own self,
Alone and in front of others;
When you become
Enlivened by life
As it is happening—
Without hiding;
When you become rebellious
Toward repressions and resistance
And relax before reactions;
When you become full
Of radical honesty
To raw emotions
You are feeling.
In heightened attention
To the sensuality
Of being human.
Something magical appears,
As the world now opens to you.
And through some clear window
For the first time,
You will see yourself.
