The First New Moon of 2016: Are you Fully Ready to Step into your Future?

*Eleditor’s note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy!

“In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.”

~ Abraham Maslow

Depending upon geographical location, the first New Moon of 2016 will occur either on Saturday January 9th or Sunday January 10th, within the Earth sign of Capricorn.

Capricorn is all about the long term goals and ambitions of our soul—we are being asked, “What do we really want to accomplish during our amazing life?”

For each of us, our gifts and journey are unique.

Some may spend their time learning in the world of academia, while others may find their personal success through financial stability.

Still others will dedicate their life to serving others, and changing the world with their own individual style.

And then there are those whose whole personal mission in life is purely to spread the love.

Whichever journey our soul is on, it is because those are the lessons that we need to learn in this lifetime.

But the funny thing about lessons—they don’t come without challenges.

Because we can’t really learn anything until we are first confronted with something that takes us out of our comfort zone.

“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.” ~ Unknown

Last year, our worlds were pulled apart, until we were left standing with nothing but the core of who we really are.

For many of us, last year was learning about everything that wasn’t right for us, so when we finally try on that garment that we’ve had our eye on for some time, we will realize that it was truly the perfect fit all along.

It’s not that we need to learn things the hard way necessarily, but sometimes we just need to exhaust all of our options before we can step into our future.

Because there are just some situations and people in this life who aren’t meant to be maybes or lessons, rather they are the people and circumstances who we strive to give our all, simply because they deserve nothing less.

2015 was about tying up the loose ends—2016 will be about locking it in.

This New Moon is going to feel much more like a Full Moon event, even though it is still the time for new beginnings.

This is because the Moon’s placement near Mercury, having just turned retrograde on the 5th and Venus in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces (which will be activating the Saturn/Sagittarius and Neptune/Pisces square that we first saw back in November.)

Mercury will be vamping up the energy and stakes with this lunar event—it’s going to be impossible to ignore the truth that comes bubbling up within the darkness of this Moon.

The dynamic play between Sagittarius and Pisces through Venus, Saturn and Neptune isn’t anything less than explosive.

These two signs always have the ability to bring out the best in one another—it just takes patience to do so.

This time around though, with stable and dependable Capricorn in the mix, the energy is going to feel much like we are all laying the foundation for something crucial, even if we can’t see the rest of the project yet.

This is where faith comes in and reminds us that we don’t need to know the outcome in order to take the first step.

This is a time for us to be drawn to what we desire the most, because sometimes it is during the darkest moments that we find the greatest clarity.

When the Saturn/Neptune square first occurred on November 27th, 2015 we were given just a taste of what 2016 will hold for us, because this square will be occurring several times throughout this year.

Whatever themes were happening in November are up for a revisit, but more than that, now they are ready to take seed.

With Capricorn being an Earth sign this is a sublime time to plant the seeds for what we wish to grow and manifest in our lives long term.

As the new year dawned, we may have found ourselves thinking about our place within the world.

The biggest question that we all struggle with at times: “Are we truly where we want to be?”

Do we suppress our truth or inner longings?

Do we talk ourselves out of doing those things that inspire or call to us the most?

This time of year, we are inspired to make resolutions regarding weight, health, even finances—but what if we made soul resolutions instead?

What if we promised to follow our heart more?

What if we decided that we were going to become who we are truly destined to be?

What if we made the choice to not be held back by fear any longer?

The truth is, life is only as amazing as the chances taken.

Everything that we have experienced so far has prepared us for this year and this moment in time.

Yet, we have to make the choice to believe in ourselves, to believe that we are worthy of amazingness—because this Moon is giving us the chance to finally move into our future with perfect timing.

Because regardless of where we were last year at this time, or how difficult the past year was at times, we are ready.

We are ready to face challenges head on, and to step out of our comfort zone once and for all.

But regardless of how ready we are, and what fate the universe is throwing our way, the ultimate decision lies with us.

We can choose to stay in our comfort zone, never knowing the answers to the questions that continually tug on our hearts.

Or, we can say yes.

Yes to the limitless unknown and the endless possibilities that exist for the taking, if only we are brave enough to take a single leap of faith

“Sometimes we just know in our gut that it’s time for that leap of faith.” ~ Paul Boynton
