Creative Ritual & Wisdom for November’s Full Moon.

Alice Popkorn

Agni, the ultimate transformational energy, encourages change in the cycle to come.

The moon shifts to Krittika nakshtara early morning, just as the moon swells to fullness. The full moon is at 6:53 a.m. MST on November 14th while it transits Aries and Krittika nakshatra. Aries is connected to the head, and is notoriously confrontational and aggressive. The moon will be expressing these flavors in the coming cycle—much of which will be focused on the head.

Agni is the ruling deity of Krittika nakshatra. This fire of life has the ability to create alchemical changes, transformation and change. There are multiple types of agni within the body, each with a special purpose for digestion, assimilation and nourishment. If one agni is weak, the other agnis in the body will be burdened. Agni helps us digest and assimilate on the physical body level as well as mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. The need for processing feelings, experiences, sensorial input, life and cycles, emotions and relationships is vital for complete digestion to take place.

Agni is a vital resource and change agent for life. We can support agni by following Ayurvedic regimens, purging and releasing emotions and grief consistently, moving the body daily, through art and creativity, being in nature, through rest and meditation.

The moon is also poised at the edge of Aries and is sandhi (in the gap between signs) at the time of the full moon. The emotional body is begging for transformation, release and change.

The divine feminine is calling out loudly and aggressively for change right now. Find ways to integrate and harmonize opposing forces and imbalances with polarities—especially the masculine and feminine.

Passions will be running high in the coming weeks and emotions will be strong and volatile. Watch your words as they may be less compassionate and more provocative.

Your job is to find the common ground, the middle way—with yourself and others. Undigested grief is moving out and through you, as well as through the collective consciousness. Old pain and hurt is finding its way to the surface of the mind, long ago suppressed into shadow parts. If you are willing to track closely and look directly at your challenging emotions, there is hope for healing and release. If you continue to resist and avoid, this chance will pass.

The masculine within everyone is going through radical shifts right now. It is being asked to transform, yet there is resistance and refusal simultaneously. This cycle will force change in uncomfortable ways. Lean closer to your small self—the pity and self loathing, the ego and self righteousness.

Allow your awakening to take place by getting closer to your darkness and bringing it to the light.

Assess Your Jyotish Chart.

Locate Aries in your jyotish chart (the number 1). This is where the Moon is transiting during the time of the full moon and how it impacts you. There is a correlation to a sense of self, identity and ego by default. What do you notice about Aries in your chart? Are there other planets sitting here? What house is Aries located in? Notice what influences affect this house.

Transforming Challenge and Conflict.

1) Identify a challenge you are experiencing—physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. It may be a challenge you’ve identified in your first house or something you’re experiencing more directly.

Create an image of your challenge. Spend at least 10-20 minutes on this image. Use color, shape and texture to create your image. Title it.

If it could speak what would it say?

2) Move the image.

Move to your challenge image. Your image is the entry point for your movement exploration. Spend 10-20 minutes moving with your image. Let your body move in response to the image, as though you’re having a dialogue with it. Stay connected to your physical body sensations as you move. In your final moments, identify a closing statement. Repeat this aloud three times.

3) In your journal, respond to these questions:

I am. I want. I need. I sense. I feel, I imagine.

What does this challenge need?
