I had seen movies and heard several stories about the holocaust. I knew it was tragic and I had met people who had survived it. But I never really got it until I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau where two million people were murdered.

I want to take the privileges I have and do something with them that tends to suffering and struggle. I want to stop blindly participating in a system that depends on inequality as it’s very foundation. With these privileges comes that responsibility.

Which gender do you think gets better returns in their investment portfolios: men or women? Most men would guess that they do, and a lot of women would agree. But don’t worry gals—all is not what it seems to be.

Wiccans love nature and the solstice. Especially the solstice. As much as it is killing me, I think it is time to call for a moratorium on the Wiccan jokes. You see, Wiccans are people too. The excitement began when the former head of Anusara Yoga, John Friend, admitted that he is a Wiccan and [...]

Our stories are encrypted in our DNA and each human being’s story is unique. Yet, our stories needn’t define nor limit us. With each breath and in every moment that life presents us, we get a chance to re-write and fine tune our script.

Isn’t it a bit ironic that we as a society are so desperately trying to erase this wisdom? What if we stood in a united sisterhood and exclaimed at the top of our voices that “We are already enough, just as we are in this moment, just as we have always been – we are enough!”

As my appetite continues to be satiated by our riveting exchange, we’ve shifted gears from yoga to political systems, Communism in particular. Together we agree that there may be some merit to this system insofar as humanity’s basic needs of food, shelter, education and access to healthcare are largely met. We both hasten to add that this is not an opinion that we’d openly share with others and agree that it is not a matter of exclusivity of communism or capitalism but rather where we are able to find and live within the balance of both. Neither [ideology] is entirely bad or good; both have failed to deliver, leaving the world in a quandary of, what’s next?

I decided to take it upon myself to find some answers to this question, and looked both to what we already know about this subject, and undertook a survey on how the psychedelic community viewed these issues.

Our yoga communities are centralized systems of communication. The tools are basic and generally free – Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Blogging. What is missing? Leaders. I believe that yoga teachers are simply great students, sharing what they learn and experience along their journey. Leaders are teachers who use the tools to communicate effectively – shining a light on every dark place.
