What’s the Importance of Friendship?

Recently I’ve lost a valued friend from my life due to personal circumstances. Since the moment we began to communicate we would regularly laugh, joke, cry and share heated discussions together but within all this the friendship felt and would remain as solid as a rock. Since the absence of my friend I can honestly say I feel like a small part of me is missing and I know a lot of you will be aware of how this feels because I’m guessing some of you have felt it too. Right now what used to feel pretty calm inside of me feels kind of chaotic and ever so slightly jumbled which made me begin my journey into thinking about what friendship is, what it’s all about and how it’s beauty really touches our hearts.

A friend is someone who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself “

To me this quote explains all to well what friendship is about. Friends never leave your side even during bad times and when your with a friend there’s no need for words because even the silences are understood.

So as a tribute to friends everywhere I have collected a few quotes from the hearts of those close to me so that we can come together and see and feel the truth when it comes to true friendship. Many people fail to recognise the importance of friends in life so I hope something within all this may encourage you to go and communicate with someone who really needs and values your true friendship. Please add any extra comments and quotes below. Peace and Love to ALL friends out there, their not to be taken for granted whatever the weather.

  • ” Friendship is a vessel that can sail calm and turbulent seas and remain in tact.”

  • Friends show a mutal caring and respect for one another.”

  • ” Friendship is the freedom to be, to think things and to say things exactly as you are without judgement.

  • ” Friendship is a common thread of love, respect, laughter which binds you to others. In other words family members you get to choose.”

  • Friends
  • Fight for you
  • Respect you
  • Involve you
  • Encourage you
  • Need you
  • Deserve you
  • Save you

“Your friends will know you better in the first minute you meet than your acquaintances will know you in a thousand years.”

“Your friend is your needs answered.”
    Khalil Gibran

    “And as I walk,
I look to my right and see another heading to my destination.
    We come close.
Step for step, our paces syncopate into a shared rhythm.
No paths visible in the grass we walk through, the streams we cross.
More quickly than I could have imagined, I forget.
I forget the time before we shared the Way.
    I forget loneliness.
We speak as if talking to echoes.
Echoes that understand the other’s meaning before a word is uttered.
    Comfortable in agreement.
Comfortable in challenge and in being challenged.
    An assumed camaraderie.
    Well met.
    A freedom to laugh
    And cry
    In sight of each other.
    A pleasure in proximity.
    And yet
    A lightness of attachment.
    Friendship. Love’s undemanding sibling.
As we sense our paths must diverge,
    We embrace briefly
    And wave as we part.
And after, when out of sight.
    I notice
I carry something of my friend
As they carry something of mine.
    I wonder
‘Did the paths cross? Or just our ideas, our dreams?’
    And I smile,
Certain that the paths will meet again, even if only at the destination,
When we can share our tales

    Around a Wave

    Thanks Indra
