The 10 Commandments Revisited, Reinterpreted.

10 commandments

I awoke in the middle of the night and wrote this. I don’t know why or if it makes sense or from where the inspiration downloaded into my psyche.

I believe in God. I believe in energy and karma and universal truth and most of all, I believe in love.

What the hell, here it is.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me.

Nothing and no one deserves more praise than Me. Who is Me?

As Jesus said, I am.

You are. We are. Every living, breathing, pulsating, vibrating, beaming, existing thing is I am. Everything and everyone is interconnected energy. It is impossible to worship one without every other, because there is no other. Therefore, it is impossible to have other gods before Me.

2. You shall not make idols.

All idols are false idols. We deceive only ourselves with our proclivity to praise the objects of our affection—animal, mineral, chemical—idols are industrious illustrious illusions.

We surround ourselves with false promise leaning on splintered crutches of hope built of technology, celebrity, consumerism, advancement—a matrix of the world we create. Idolatry is nothing more than a psychological disease of the ego.

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

Ne’er speak ill of another for she that does, speaks ill of herself. We elevate ourselves by lifting up others. I am. We tear ourselves down in the same manner.

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Every day is holy. Setting a Sabbath allows us to press our reset button as a reminder of this. Serene Spirit resets with every sunrise, with every flower bud opening, every second. We need only remember this. This. This is holy.

5. Honor your father and your mother.

Honor everyone. Every living thing. Every thing. All. Do no harm. Tread lightly on the earth’s heart and on its carpet and with its sentient beings.

6. You shall not murder.

We kill a piece of ourselves when we think, speak or do harm to another. There is no other. When we humble ourselves to help our enemy, we help ourselves, ego dies and we become alive.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

Adultery cannot co-exist with real love. Contracts are unnecessary, ownership dissipates, truth is revealed, spirit is freed. All that remains is love.

8. You shall not steal.

Give freely to those in need. What do we need? Food, clothing, shelter? Love. With love all our necessities are provided. When we love generously, there is enough for all and the need to steal is thieved away.

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

And the truth shall set us free. When idealism becomes realism, we will embrace our truth while accepting others’ realities. Understanding of unique perspectives will reign and lies will cease to exist except as remembered whispers in a night breeze, a rustle in the trees.

10. You shall not covet.

For all we have is what we want and all we have we gratefully give away gaining greatness and goodness and godliness within us. And our light shines in others and reflects back to us and this freedom and lightness and being leaves nothing left to covet.
