Many of us know at least a little about the eco-costs of travel.

We know strategies for staying green while living our daily lives, we carpool, we take public transport or we cycle or walk when we can. But what about when we want to travel? Traveling can have high environmental costs, and this little infographic serves as a quick and easy guide to the most sustainable forms of transport—and provides some helpful tips for keeping it green while you’re having your adventure.

What’s interesting to me is that there is no hard and fast rule that determines which form of travel is best. It all depends on where you’re going, how far and how often. For example, air travel is more efficient for long haul journeys than for short trips, and there’s a big difference between a high occupancy and low occupancy buss.
