I have, at times, found myself standing (or at least trying to) in the whirlwind that is life asking, “How the hell did I wind up here?”

I think we have all experienced this at one point or another.

Tip-toeing through the rubble, I would often attempt to figure out how to put it all back together. Then I decided to bring my awareness to prevention.

So, how the hell did we wind up here? The answer is: We’ve lost focus. We’ve lost focus and it seems to have randomly reappeared, although it is not so random at all.

The solution that I’ve come up with to avert these moments of grand, tumultuous recognition is this: Fall in love.

“I am head over heels for my boyfriend/my wife/my child,” some of us might proclaim. This kind of love is wonderful, and all should experience it.

But we also need to fall in love with the small, but meaningful, nuances of life…

With the gentle touch of a small child.

With the pink hues of the sky at sunset.

With the kind act of the stranger who went out of their way to hold the door open for us.

And on the other end of the spectrum…

With a precarious gut feeling.

With a friend not supporting us.

With our own minuscule mistakes.

Fall in love with all of these small moments. Trust in them. Lend them your attention. Appreciate them.

It is the small moments that require our attentiveness more than the big ones, because here is the key most of us don’t realize:

The only time the big picture becomes muddy is when we overlook the small moments.

The small moments are everything.

Doing this Will Help You Enjoy the Little Things.
