Perfect Imperfection. {Poem}

woman

Do not place me on a pedestal, my love.

I have a fear of heights,
A phobia of falling.

I’ve fallen before,
And broken badly.

I feel safe with my feet
Upon the earth,
My head upon your shoulder.

Hold me gently, sweetheart,
Allow my lungs to fill
Effortlessly.

I’ve been smothered before
And suffocated.

I need to breathe—
To create,
To dream.

Do not promise forever, my darling.
Just be with me
This moment.

I’ve loved before,
And lost.

Embrace me
In my Perfect
Imperfection
