Land of the Free

We have an uprising, a movement, a wave of humanity striving for a higher purpose. Separating themselves from the historical capitalism and pioneering conscious well-being for western culture. There is a chasm building between this compassionate, otherness-centered being and the independent, self sufficient, achievement driven westerners.  Our history in America promotes the lifelong quest for independent freedom to which we’ve intertwined financial success. Now the uprising is intertwining this quest not by a measurement of financial value but one of human values.

If you are part of the tribe who thrives to share the knowledge that it seems eastern culture has lived by for thousands of years, you might find you hit severe resistance outside the hemisphere of your tribe. The resistance of the legacy that is “America the great, land of the free.”

Then I came across this: “Americans take the virtues of liberty and individual freedom for granted, but since East Asians pay so much attention to collective well-being, culture researchers have questioned whether they might emphasize the values of harmony and conformity over uniqueness and independence” – Drunk Tank Pink by Adam Alter and it struck a chord.

Maybe we have so much resistance to this new wave, this movement of harmony and collective well-being, because there is a primal fear that it will strip down our uniqueness and independence. Does it have to be an either or? Can we have a culture that strives for collective well-being while honoring and thriving in our independent uniqueness? I say yes, but what organization or mini-eco system will take on the challenge to cultivate this? If you’re out there I want to be part of YOUR tribe – let’s pave the way together for collective, independent, free, unique, well-being.
