Earth Mother

Who has birthed life to us all

 

We are dumping foul rubbish

and plastics

and toxic chemicals

Into the oceans 

Which are your womb

and from which all life sprang

 

We are cutting and burning

The forests of this world

Which are your lungs 

And that gift us air to breathe

 

We are creating poisons

and pumping them 

into the air

into the waters

into the earth

 

and into each other

 

We are cruelly killing your children

on the Land

in the Oceans

in the Air

 

and we are killing each other

 

We have no mercy

We have no heart

 

We are lost in nightmares of corruption 

of more power

more gold

more destruction 

and more death

 

We have gone insane Earth Mother

We have forgotten who you are

We have forgotten that all of life is interconnected

and that all living creatures 

Are our brothers, and our sisters

We have forgotten what we are

 

We cannot see 

that this world is interconnected in a web of life

That we are all part of each other 

and that we need each other

To thrive, and to survive

 

We are blind to it all

We are destroying everything

We have lost our minds

 

We have forgotten, that we have hearts

We have forgotten how to care for, and love

our cousins in the plant kingdoms 

Who gift every breathe that we take

and give fruits 

and flowers 

and shelter

 

We have forgotten how to care for and love

all the creatures, great and small

who are our brothers, and our sisters

in the oceans

on the land

and in the air 

 

We have forgotten how to care for and love 

you, Dear Beloved Earth Mother

We have forgotten how to be grateful

that you have taken care of us, for millennia 

We have forgotten how to be appreciative 

for all the bounty you have given us

and for this precious gift of life that we have

 

We have forgotten to kneel in prayer

For all the miraculous beauty 

and wonders of this world

that you have made for us

 

We have forgotten, how to love you

 

We have forgotten how to love 

and care for each other too

We have forgotten 

how to hold each other

and help each other

In fear

In pain 

In despair

In joy

 

We have forgotten 

that connecting with our hearts 

gives us wisdom

and kindness

and strength

 

We have forgotten 

that connecting with each other

Creates more love

more strength

more courage

 

We have forgotten 

that together we are STRONG

and that we can change this world

Into a beautiful world of compassion and love

A world of kindness and caring for all of life

 

But some of us are stirring now

Some of us are waking up

Some of us are remembering what we are

Some of us are feeling the fire in our hearts

Some of us are remembering love

 

Growing numbers of us 

are being called to action

and are reaching out to others

Joining hands here, and there, and all over this world

with many hearts connecting to each other 

with many hearts catching Fire and stepping up

there are wild fires of love spreading everywhere 

and saying NO MORE to all this madness 

 

Growing numbers of us 

are realising the “System” is broken

and are joining together, hand in hand, working together

with love, creativity and courage, organising 

to turn all this around

and stop this insanity, before it is too late

 

We know we need to build new ways of living and working

We understand the need to create citizen assemblies

To take the BEST from what IS working all over this world

To create a better future, a new world for us all

Communities that celebrate loving connection 

and care

and kindness

with each other 

with all the creatures of this world

and with the beloved Mother of us all

Mother Earth
