Rest and Remember: A Poem

Subliminal space,
Below consciousness,
Before we see
The full
Perspective.

We are in
This time
Of reflection,
Pondering,
Musing,
Unassuming,
Or assuming.

Making gestures,
Finding spaces,
Creating,
From less knowledge
Of what is forming.

Drawn to the
Creation process,
Music,
Words,
Art,
Poetry.

Subliminal means
Of communicating
Feeling.

Sometimes,
We need to step back
From the work,
Take the pauses
To remember
Why we started
In the first place.

We may think
We still need to rush,
To move the
Momentum faster
Than what is already
Unfolding.

What if we
Can surrender
To the day to day
Currency
Of energy?

Knowing
That each day it
Changes.

We may not
Always have
Control over it.

Or say in how
Much we “get” each day.

Our energy is
Always in flux,
Moment to moment,
Day by day.

It wasn’t something
Set in stone,
Or meant to be pushed,
And bottomed out.

But given permission
To land,
To burrow,
To find the crevasses
Of self to attend to,
To nest,
To attend to
That which has been
Left unattended to.

So rest,
Dear one.
Rest,
Even if your tired
Makes no sense.

Rest, even if
Projects’ end beckons
From mind’s gripping.

Rest, when
Rest speaks to you.

No matter the time.
Even when
Others may not
Be resting.

Rest,
Because you
Are listening to the
Self underneath the doing.

Subliminal space
Between action
And surrender.

Rest,
In these spaces.
Undefined,
And uncharted
Just yet.

In due
Timeless
Nature,
We shall
Emerge.

Until then,
Find a home
In these spaces
That call to you,
To sink,
Into.

Burrow into
The sand of
Sweet rest,
And trust
How long
You need
To be there.
