By my lake

Down by my lake
late at night, all by myself

Sky dark,
all shavings and slivers of dusk erased
Stars like random left over chalk dust sprinkle the raven black above me

No wind just

Sedated fresh spring air

It is calm

quiet

Composed

The waters,

still
after winter
slapped and tossed them about like a big salad of stones and beach glass, trees stripped, white and bare on the shore like an old game of pick up sticks abandoned long ago

I can breath here

I inhale and saturate my spirit
with the seaweed scent of the water on my ankles
Feet in the damp sand

Lulled and subdued
beneath a calm
 ivory moon
