Anxious people are the best thing that can happen to you.
I know they can be a pain in the ass.
And all needy and just eye-roll-emoji.
Hold your judgements for just one second
And look at it this way.
I bet you’re no stranger to anxiety either.
To that voice that keeps looping.
The thought that won’t go away.
That fear you keep rationalizing.
The excuses you justify. Endlessly.
The uncomfortable bird that you keep in the cage of your own mind.
What to do?
Practice with anyone you see who’s a little anxious, or afraid, or going through it.
When you notice the fluttering of that same bird in their eyes,
Downregulate your own nervous system.
The first two are easy. I’ll talk about the art of Inner Authentic Relating all day.
Learning to downregulate your own nervous system requires a bit of practice.
When you do, everything changes.
The other person changes.
And after a while, guess what?
That same fluttering bird inside your own head can also feel
and, finally, come to rest, cooing, and grounded
in the outstretched palm of your awareness
