5 Simple, Eco-Friendly Ways to Help Save Mother Earth.

Climate change and the rise of global temperature because of the increase in greenhouse gases caused by human activity.

The depletion of our natural resources. The threatening scarcity of food production. The economic effect brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. All of these things have left countries around the world with a need to take action—to protect and save Mother Earth.

We, as individuals, can do our part in helping save our Mother Earth. There are plenty of everyday things we can do to help reduce our waste and make a less harmful impact on the environment.

Here are some of them:

1. Conserve Energy.

We should keep in mind that our natural resources are limited, and if we overuse our electricity, fuels, water, and even paper, we will run out of oil, clean water, and wood.

To help conserve energy and prevent the depletion of our natural resources, we have to be mindful of how we use energy. We can do that by being mindful of simple things:

>> Turning off the light when not in use.

>> Unplugging all electronics when they’re not in use.

>> Using energy-efficient light bulbs.

>> Walk, bike, or use public transport when we can.

>> Using e-books and paperless billing to reduce paper use.

2. Reduce. Recycle. Reuse.

We can help reduce pollution by separating our garbage and putting everything in its proper trash bin. Recycle tins, cans, paper, and other recyclable trash while using compost bins for vegetable peels and other compostable garbage. We can also use reusable bags for groceries and avoid using disposable plates, spoons, cups, and napkins. These things create a huge amount of waste. As much as possible, use products that are made of recycled materials.

3. Eat Sustainable Foods.

We can eat sustainably by choosing foods from farmers who practice sustainable farming with minimal impact on the land. Eating more whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and less processed food can make a significant difference. We can also set up our own organic garden at home, even if we only have a little space, through aquaponics gardening. An aquaponics garden will not only give us sustainable food; it will also give us the benefits of eating healthy, organic foods.

4. Plant a Tree.

Trees clean the air, provide oxygen and food. Sad to say that rainforests are destroyed for fuel, paper, and agriculture. While planting one tree seems too little, it is a great way to make our Earth green again. We can plant a tree in our backyard! (If you don’t have a backyard, you can make an organic indoor garden.)

5. Say No to Plastic.

Many people around the world like buying plastic drinking bottles. Stop. Stop buying plastic bottled water or soft drinks. Use reusable and eco-friendly materials instead of plastics, use cloth bags as shopping bags, and don’t use plastic straws. Saying no to plastic can help divert tons of waste for landfills and oceans.

We need to do our part in saving Mother Earth, not only for us but also for our future generations.

The above tips are an excellent way for us to contribute our share. If we start making changes at home, at school, at work—everywhere—people will see what we are doing and be inspired to do the same.

Saving our Earth shouldn’t be difficult. But it requires unity and serious action from each of us.
