Humanity as a race has reached a point where it could do with a bit of divine intervention.

The spread of COVID-19 has practically turned our world upside down. Currently, our lives are plagued with stress, uncertainty, anxiety, and chaos. This makes it a good time to understand the presence of chakras—energy centers—in the human body, the role they play in the flow of energy in our body, and how to balance them.

The Sahasrara chakra—crown chakra or the seventh chakra—is meant to be the last of the chakras and the one that activates divine energy. Located at the top of one’s head, a balanced crown chakra could mean:

>> having a more positive outlook on life

>> an egoless self

>> visible changes in habits and attitude

>> a strong connection with the supreme self

>> universal flow of energy and spiritual enlightenment

A balanced Sahasrara chakra can bring about the rejection of negative thoughts that cause us unhappiness and stress. This is why the practice of yoga propagates the balancing of the chakras. You tend to experience negative emotions such as disillusionment, restlessness, and boredom when this chakra is unbalanced or blocked.

When you learn to balance it, you can experience spiritual understanding and peace, and you can have a clear perspective on life.

Crown chakra is the chakra that actually connects us to the divine. So healing the crown chakra is an excellent way to create balance within our bodies and minds. It governs interaction and communication with the universe.

Here are five easy and effortless ways to balance the crown chakra:

1. Crown chakra stones and jewelry techniques.

Crown chakra has links with clear stones and crystals. When it comes to using chakra stones for healing, we have plenty of flexibility. We can wear crown chakra stones in rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, and we can also simply hold them or place them in a prominent place.

Clear Quartz, Sugilite, and Selenite are the crown chakra crystals that can help us to align and open the crown chakra.

2. Meditation and yoga for healing.

The reason meditation is widely believed to hold all the answers is that it actually does work. With regards to crown chakra healing, meditation is one of the key practices. Ranging from breathing techniques and colorful visualizations to chanting mantras, there are innumerable ways in which balance can be brought to this sacred energy center.

If you are new to meditation, you should try a guided meditation. In guided meditation, our practice is guided by another person’s voice. The human mind tends to wander. So if you are actually looking to relax or focus, it would be better to not leave the mind on its own.

3. Do not believe your thoughts.

There is a basic misunderstanding of how aware we are of our thoughts. When you sit someplace quiet and turn your attention inward, you will notice a continuous stream of thoughts flowing through your mind. However, it is important to understand that not even one of these thoughts is created by you. They just tend to spontaneously arise in your mind. You are merely a witness to your thoughts.

Meditation is a powerful tool to witness your thoughts and detach from them. Byron Katie, an enlightened teacher, has the perfect method for challenging and detaching yourself from thoughts that trouble your mind. He makes you perform a series of simple exercises and answer a few questions which can help in detaching yourself from any thoughts that cause you discomfort.

4. Chakra food and diet.

The famous chakra foods are natural wholesome foods like fresh and organic vegetables, fruits, brown rice, brown bread, and hearty broths that promote general well-being and help to bring your energy centers into alignment. Herbal teas, ginger, and violet foods like eggplant and red grapes help keep the crown chakra open.

5. Use crown chakra affirmation.

Affirmation is a well-known technique for balancing the chakras. Its use has a lot to do with personal preference, so feel free to try saying your affirmations are different times of the day.

Here are some crown chakra affirmations that you have to add to your daily routine.

 >> I am constantly connected to my highest self.

 >> I am at one with the world around me.

 >> I am attuned to the divine energy of the universe.

 >> We are all on this earth to make a difference.

 >> Lovingly, I emit light that attracts others who will bring love into my life.

>> I am love; I am light; I am joy.

>> Right now, I am confident, happy, and sure of my worth.

6. Use essential oils.

Plant-derived oils are also used for balancing the crown chakra. The oils are used by simply breathing in or applying topically. These are potent oils that can irritate the skin if they are not diluted, so it is important to dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil, like coconut oils and olive oils. Frankincense oil, peppermint oil, sandalwood oil, and lotus oil are the essential oils that can be used to balance your crown chakra.

Take five to six drops of essential oil and mix it with a dime-size portion of carrier oil. Then, apply it with a cotton ball at the top center of your head to anoint yourself. Alternately, put the mixture in your hand and rub them together. Through friction, the scent and energy of the oil will be released. Now, open your palm and deeply inhale the scent. During the process, create a connection with your crown chakra and say some crown chakra affirmation.

7. Educate yourself.

By stepping out of your comfort zone and learning new things, you can open up your crown chakra. Reading books, watching videos, and listening to podcasts on self-growth can help you balance your chakra. You can identify areas of ignorance or prejudice within yourself and deepen your education in these areas.

It is a general fact that the more you educate yourself, the more humble you will become. Your open-mindedness toward people will increase.

According to yoga, the crown chakra is our access to enlightenment.

Asanas such as Padmasana (lotus pose), Sirsasana (headstand), Sasangasana (rabbit stand), Shavasana (corpse pose), Makarasana (crocodile pose), Ardha Ustrasana (half-camel pose), Gomukhasana (cow face pose), and Vrksasana (tree pose) are supposed to help in healing the crown chakra.

While crown chakra healing may not exactly leave you enlightened, it may help you find more inner peace and clarity in every aspect of your life.
