Incredible Art Landmarks to Visit Around the World

Photo by Eugene Dorosh on Pexels.

Although conventional art would have you believe that this skill only exists within the realm of painting and drawing, art far surpasses its expected molds and bears many different names. Architecture is an underrated type of art that we see throughout each day of our lives. While some pieces of architecture are certainly more inspired than others, it does not erase the design and artistry that went into creating them. As a result, we now have incredible art landmarks to visit around the world. Discover a few of these below.

Eiffel Tower

One of the most recognizable landmarks in the world is the Eiffel Tower, situated in Paris, France. This triangular structure has inspired artists from all over the world to stand in its midst and draw their eyes to its workmanship. This large tower is, in many ways, the mascot for the city of love, as many tourists flock to the city to lay their eyes on this wonder. Although it is one of the most visited attractions in the world, its artistry deserves to be appreciated.

Sydney Opera House

Established as a prestigious performing arts center, the Sydney Opera House pays homage to the visual arts through its appearance. With white ceiling structures that fan out like shark fins, the venue is an inspiring waterfront landmark that has grown a reputation for being one of the world’s most recognizable buildings. This sculpture influenced further developments in modernist architecture and successfully competed against other submissions for the venue’s design.

Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Moscow’s Saint Basil’s Cathedral is a colorful cultural artifact showcasing a variety of artistic inspirations. Each dome bears differing exterior decorations, ranging from blue and white stripes to swirls of green and red. The entire structure is ornamented with intentional detail, playful geometric shapes and diverse colors, creating a unified piece of art standing loud and proud. Adding to its impressive nature is the fact that it was constructed as early as 1555 to 1561, proving that even with limited resources, meaningful art can be produced.

Stonehenge

Dating back to prehistoric times, Stonehenge is one of the earliest monuments in the world, believed to have been constructed between 2000 and 3000 BC. This recognizable stone circle is not only an enlightening slice of history but also an abstract piece of art. Although it may not have been intended to be viewed as a piece of art, modern viewers take home this impression of the landmark, as it bears characteristics of abstract art.
